Coronavirus Update for UUSD Schools & Families 3.16.2020

Parents and Guardians:

As we communicated yesterday, we have decided to preemptively suspend site-based instruction and transition to remote learning. As promised, here are some details:

Meals
We will be offering a bag breakfast and lunch to every child 18 years of age and younger beginning tomorrow, Tuesday, March 17, 2020. You can pick up meals at any of our school sites and Hopland Elementary School from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Your children must be present. We will add meal dropoffs at bus stops next week, and we will update you with new details when plans have been finalized.

Remote Learning
Remote Learning means that students do not physically attend school, but receive and complete lessons at home. Your child’s school will be providing instructional materials online (grades 6 - 12) and in paper format (grades TK - 5). Students in grades 6 - 12 who do not have internet access will be provided with paper copies of assignments.

Teachers will be available remotely during school hours to answer questions and work with students. Please work with your student’s teacher(s) and school-site staff to help students succeed during this challenging time.

Your student’s school will be giving you instructions on how to access learning or how to pick up learning materials. If you have questions about Remote Learning, please contact your student’s teacher(s) or school site office.

Social-Emotional Support
We intend to continue to provide counseling services to the extent feasible. Please contact your school office for more information.

Communication
UUSD will communicate with parents and guardians at least once a week through phone calls, emails, text messages, our website, and Facebook. Please log into the Aeries Parent Portal and update all important information so we can contact you here: https://uusd.asp.aeries.net/student/LoginParent.aspx?page=default.aspx.

Please call your school first for questions and support. If you are unable to reach your school or have additional needs, please contact the UUSD Remote Learning Information Line at (707) 472-5003, M-F between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm.

We are here to support you as we all work through this challenging time. Let’s take care of one another and reach out to support our fellow community members. We will get through this crisis by working together. Thank you for your support.

Sincerely,
Deb Kubin, UUSD Superintendent
