I am reaching out with some important information regarding meals and remote learning. Although we really miss seeing all of our students every day at school sites, we look forward to continuing student education through Remote Learning on Wednesday, April 15, 2020.
Food Delivery for April 14 & April 20, 2020
We will be serving meals once next week on Tuesday, April 14, 2020. Beginning on Monday, April 20, 2020, meals will be served only one time per week on Mondays and will contain five days of meals.
We will be serving meals at six Ukiah Unified schools including Ukiah High School, Oak Manor, Eagle Peak, Grace Hudson, Yokayo, and Pomolita, from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. We will also be delivering meals by bus. Please visit www.uusd.net and click on the link next to the yellow school bus to see delivery times and places.
Due to Health Department requirements, we will have different menu items on our bus routes than what can be served at our pickup locations. Food items may vary from site to site and bus route to bus route. If you can try as much as possible to go to the same location each time, it helps us plan for how much food is needed at each location.
Please remember that we now require those who receive meals to have proof that their child resides in our community such as a report card, student ID, letter or email from a school. If children are present, no proof is needed. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we put some safeguards in place to ensure we are able to feed all of the children in our community. We urge you to take only what is needed for your children.
Social-Emotional Health
If your child is having difficulty dealing with this stressful situation, don’t feel alone. Do not hesitate to reach out for help. For children in our Ukiah Unified schools, you can call your child’s school or e-mail the school counselors for support. Because it is more challenging to communicate during this remote learning period, if you are unable to reach your child’s school, you can call UUSD’s Remote Learning Hotline at 707-472-5003. Additionally, the County of Mendocino has the Warm Line for community members to call for non-crisis, emotional support at 707-472-2311. And finally, in a crisis, please call the Mendocino County Crisis Hotline at 855-838-0404, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Remote Learning
If you have not already heard from your student’s school, you will be hearing from the school soon. Each school will be reaching out to families with specific details about our second round of remote learning which will begin Wednesday, April 15. If you have any questions, please call your student’s school office, or call our Remote Learning Hotline at 707-472-5003. All school offices and the District Service Center will be open to calls again beginning Tuesday, April 14, 2020.
Social Distancing
Finally, please follow the Mendocino County Public Health Officer’s order regarding social distancing. Our meal program and academic programs are based on social distancing practices. Thank you in advance for supporting social distancing practices when you interact with us for meal pickup and academic support.
Thank you so much for your continued support. I will be communicating with our families weekly during this remote learning period.
