Superintendent’s Update to Ukiah Unified Families: November 13, 2020

Uncertainty is tough to deal with, but we continue to deal with it during this pandemic.  We’ve appreciated your patience as we have worked through everything that has come our way.  Although we shared our reopening plans with you last week and during the Board meeting last night, the Mendocino County Public Health Officer released a new order regarding schools and guidance for schools in our county.  This new guidance will result in Ukiah Unified needing to change our secondary school schedules when we return to in-person instruction.  We will keep you posted as soon as we can draft these changes. Complete Draft Reopening to In-Person Instruction Plan

In order to reopen our schools on December 7, we will need to be in the Red Tier.  Unfortunately, Mendocino County is beginning to see increased COVID numbers, which may put us back to the Purple Tier.  If we are in the Purple Tier when the state releases the updated County Status on December 1, we will need to delay our reopening until sometime after Winter Break.

Please help us get our schools reopened by doing your part - wearing a mask, watching your physical distance, and washing your hands.  We will continue to plan for a December 7th opening.  Please reference The California Blueprint Data Chart for COVID-19 numbers; this is the information used by the state to calculate our average new daily cases and positivity rate.

Please get information from official UUSD channels like my weekly communications, at www.uusd.net, and on the Ukiah Unified Facebook page.  Thank you very much for your ongoing support, and I hope you have a great weekend!
