Our projected reopening date for Grades 7 - 12 has moved to March 18, 2021. The County Case Rate (which is updated weekly on Tuesday at noon) reported a rate of 7.3 this week. Here is the link: https://covid19.ca.gov/state-dashboard/. Our case rate has to be less than 7 per 100,000 population to reopen Grades 7 - 12. Next Tuesday and the following Tuesday, it is projected that the number will be under 7, which will then allow us to reopen Grades 7 - 12 to in-person learning on Thursday, March 18, 2021. Of course, this depends on local health conditions, which we know can change quickly.
COVID-19 Testing Ukiah Unified has reached another milestone in our fight against COVID-19 as we began COVID-19 Testing for our students this week as one of our many measures to keep our campuses healthy. COVID-19 Testing is not mandatory, but you are highly encouraged to participate! If you have not registered yet, please do so here. https://www.primarybio.com/a/uusd You will need to know the Student ID for each child to sign them up. Students involved in the in-person program will be tested while they are at school. The COVID-19 tests we administer are 15-minute rapid antigen tests. Students will swab their own noses under guidance from District staff. Please call your child's school site for questions about student IDs and when testing will happen. For questions about the test, please contact Ukiah Unified Communications Officer Doug Shald at 707.472.5005 or [email protected].
Secondary Sports Update Our case rate continues to be under 14 cases per 100,000 population, so I am excited to let everyone know that all outdoor sports practices and competitions are now possible. Mendocino County Public Health has also approved the UUSD COVID-19 Plan for Secondary Athletics. If you have any questions about athletics, or if your child wants to get involved in a sport, please visit https://ukiah.bigteams.com/ or email Ukiah High School Athletic Director Stephen Summers at [email protected].
