Welcome to Calpella Elementary School! We understand that the last few years have been a challenge from a parents’ perspective. For that reason, we will focus on increasing parent engagement, knowing nothing is as impactful as having engaged and supportive families. One way to get involved would be to attend the monthly PTO meetings and help organize ways to support students and families. Another way to connect would be to become a member of the School Site Council, which reviews and gives input to school goals and budgets. You can also support Calpella Elementary School by attending your student’s family night or volunteering in your student’s classroom. In addition to the monthly newsletters and calendars that we send home and post on our website. Eagle Peak Middle School

We are eagerly looking forward to welcoming all our new and returning Eagle Peak Middle School students this year, and we are excited to enter our sixth year as a STEM magnet school. STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. At Eagle Peak, we use a student-centered interdisciplinary project-based approach to discover ways to use technology to improve the natural and human-created systems around us. For example, with the recent installation of solar panels in our parking lot, students will study the technical and scientific aspects of powering a school from the sun, such as developing a knowledge of energy measurements like watts or examining the effect of cloud cover on daily energy produced. From designing and building model rockets and robots to solving real-world environmental challenges, Eagle Peak is a leader in STEM education.

Grace Hudson Language Academy is proud to offer a Spanish Dual Immersion Program. Our unique program offers English and Spanish-speaking students the opportunity to learn and excel in two languages, English and Spanish. Students are taught in the 90/10 model. Students in Kindergarten receive 90 percent of their instruction in Spanish and 10 percent in English. Each year, English gradually increases until the instructional time reaches 50 percent English and 50 percent Spanish in the fourth and fifth grades. Grace Hudson Elementary provides a rigorous K-5 curriculum and is excited to continue implementing Guided Language Acquisition Design (GLAD) and project-based learning in our classrooms, as well as positive behavioral supports and restorative practices.

Oak Manor Elementary is very excited about the 2022-23 school year. Our main goals are providing a rigorous and well-rounded educational experience, beautifying and enriching our campus, and developing strong community partnerships. We will start the school year with new roofs, paint, and heating and air conditioning systems funded through Measure A. This is the first phase of several construction projects at Oak Manor School, including demolishing a few buildings and constructing new learning spaces. We are excited to continue implementing the 95% program, which helps our students learn to read and continue the Pomo Culture and Education program. Our Native American Parent Advisory Committee and counselor have organized and supported the many cultural presenters over the years. We look forward to having a positive and productive year serving the students and families of our community.

At Pomolita, we are looking forward to another great school year. Pomolita staff take great pride in teaching and developing positive relationships with students. We are proud of our WE ROAR pillars – Wellness, Empathy, Responsibility, Organization, Attitude, and Respect and have high expectations for our students to achieve these values. We have a terrific after-school tutorial program and a Restorative Justice teacher who works with students who need help understanding rules and social boundaries. Our teachers work closely to develop curriculum and assessments in our Professional Learning Communities. We will continue to have our Leadership students use a newscast format to make announcements on our YouTube channel. It’s a show all parents should watch to stay abreast of all happenings at our school. Pomolita teachers continue to be at the forefront of new and exciting teaching strategies, and we work together to help students succeed. The start of the year is upon us after having another successful year with the Big Picture Learning program. The South Valley team will roll out our Big Picture Ukiah program for the fifth year, where all students will engage deeply in real-life learning. Teaming up with our community, students find apprenticeships during school hours to learn “hands-on” the crucial career, college, and life skills needed to succeed.
