Ukiah Unified School District will have a community meeting concerning Developer Fees on Monday, August 29, 2022. Ukiah Unified staff will hold the meeting at the Ukiah Unified District Service Center located at 511 S. Orchard Ave. in Ukiah, CA, beginning at 5:30 p.m.
“The August 29th meeting will be a great way to learn about developer fees and provide a platform for community members to ask questions and help us hear their point of view. We want to give everyone a chance to weigh in, so there will be another community meeting after the August 29th meeting,” said Ukiah Unified trustee president Zoey Fernandez.
Ukiah Unified Trustees recently agreed to move forward with discussion and consideration of reinstating developer fees at an August 11, 2022, Regular Meeting. Developer fees are fees developers pay to school districts to mitigate the impact of new development on the school facilities. In February 2014, Ukiah Unified Trustees directed the Administration to cease collecting developer fees temporarily. Since then, the District has not collected developer fees on any new development within District boundaries.
During the 2021-22 school year, Ukiah Unified Trustees asked Administration to commission a new developer fee study. Over the last few months, King Consulting developed a draft study and presented it to the Ukiah Unified Trustees during a public hearing on August 11th. In addition to the August 29th community meeting, another community meeting will be held in late September, and the Trustees may consider developer fees at a later Board Meeting.
