Ukiah Unified School District has announced that they will have a second community meeting concerning Developer Fees on Monday, September 26, 2022. Ukiah Unified staff will hold the meeting at the Ukiah Unified District Service Center located at 511 S. Orchard Ave. in Ukiah, CA, beginning at 5:30 p.m. The community is invited to attend and learn about developer fees, and there will be time for questions and discussion.
“We will be discussing the recent developer fee study developed by King Consulting during this meeting, and I hope community members will attend to learn about developer fees and ask questions,” said Ukiah Unified chief business official Steve Barekman.
Developer fees are fees developers pay to school districts to mitigate the impact of new development on the school facilities. In February 2014, Ukiah Unified Trustees directed the Administration to cease collecting developer fees temporarily. Since then, the District has not collected developer fees on any new development within District boundaries.
During the 2021-22 school year, Ukiah Unified Trustees asked Administration to commission a new developer fee study. King Consulting developed a draft study and presented it to the Ukiah Unified Trustees during a public hearing on August 11th.
In addition to the September 26th community meeting, another community meeting concerning developer fees was held on August 29, 2022. Trustees will consider reinstating developer fees at their October 13, 2022, Regular Board Meeting.
