Superintendent Kubin’s Update February 3, 2023

Happy Friday, Ukiah Unified! I can’t believe today is the 100th day of school! Didn’t school just start? This year is flying by like no other, and we only have around 80 days left in the school year. Attendance matters; please do everything you can to get your kids to school every day to help maximize their learning.

Mental Health Grant I am overjoyed to inform you that the United States Department of Education has awarded us a School-Based Mental Health Services Grant. This grant will provide funding for additional mental health services for students in our district. New grant-provided positions include additional Social-Emotional Counselors, a Mental Health Counselor intern, one Social Worker, one Substance Abuse Counselor, and one Bilingual Family Community Liaison. This grant will help us maintain and build on the solid foundation of support currently available to our students. Thank you to Director of Student Services Jason Iversen, Ukiah Unified Counselor Jacob Bainbridge, Ukiah Unified Counselor Alicia Bainbridge, and Kathy Hopper for their hard work securing this grant.
